Loans or grants to buy farm equipment?

Posted by admin

I inherited property from my father’s estate and I want to begin a hay farm and have no hay cutting or baling machinery. I do have a tractor. I will need to build a storage building too. Are there programs that will help me get started? I don’t have the cash flow to get this started and I just know it will be a success once it gets going. Thanks!!!

Farm Credit Services of America is the best place to secure a agricultural loan. Most bank and credit unions will not touch agricultural ventures but that is all these guys do. It’s where I got the mortgage for my farm

I thinking about starting a cattle farm. Where do I start?

Posted by admin

I thinking about starting a cattle farm.
I would like to know where should I start?
How much will I want to invest to make a good profit?
How much land should I buy?
How much will it cost to buy the land?
How much will the beef cattle cost me?
what equipment will I need?
How long should it take to make a living off of it?

Any more information you can think of would be nice please.

Start by learning as much about cattle as you can. Read, read, read.

Hang out around cattle - find out if your even like cattle. The smell, the poop, the snot, the noise, the flies. See if you can find a job around cows/cattle.

Land costs vary greatly. How many cattle you can run on a piece of land varies based on the "quality" of the land - is there grass? Is it desert? Talk to people who are in the ranching business.

Mostly read, read, read and get to know people who already have experience.

Anticipate this to cost …………..a lot. Probably several hundred thousand dollars.

Good luck!

why were spears and hunting equipment important before early farming?

Posted by admin

i need some help, im doin a history project and i need to do a report on how spears and hunting equipment important before farming to go with my project

The main reason is that before we learned how to farm we were Hunter / Gatherers

Using tools like a spear could put a distance from you and the animal, making it much more likely that you would come away unscathed. Also better spears and hunting equipment also could help you survive against other predators and guard your kill.

Lastly the making and knowledge of these techniques helped form a bond between early tribesman and help establish thier social circles.
