Here the herd on Howmars Farm, an organic dairy farm in northern Vermont that supplies Stonyfield Farm with milk for its yogurt, goes wild in the dirt. On this day, they had been let out into the pastures for the first time this spring.

Planned to spread slurry last week when the ground was frozen solid for the first time in many years but spent most of the time between milking watering cattle with a hose pipe. Temps got as low as -6 C or 20F Also got 2 inches of snow.
