Why are my eyes red before I go to bed and when I wake up?
Posted by adminBoth my wife and I have the same symptoms. They don’t itch or burn, just blood shot on the sides. We just moved into a new home and ever since, we get them. She has a new pillow but niether of us have allergies. I just replace my furnace, some supply air duct work, all the return duct work, 4" inch filter, gas pipe, AC condensor and water tank recently. I sealed the poured foundation 2-3 times with Drylock so I assume radon and earth gases are not an issue nor natural gas from the gas company. Oh, and I had the gas company come fix a leak and the replaced the entire meter which is inside the house. It’s a ranch with all new paint and attic insulation, re-finished hardwood floors. Pretty much everything is new so I am puzzled.
We don’t smell the poly coating on the floor or feel there are any side effects from all the work I just did on it.
Before we go to bed we have the usual "heavy eyes" and some redness. When we wake up they are a little more puffy compared to the other house we lived in and really blood shot on the sides. This all goes away when we leave for work and are actually awake and the bodies blood is circulating better.
My wife is freaking out but I’m content. Any ideas if it’s the new house or us just adjusting subconsciously. Pleas help?
The house was built in 1956 but was re-dry-walled and painted 7-9 years ago because a small kitchen fire. I don’t know why the entire house was re-done but it was. I moved 1.75 miles from a previous home so the "new area" isn’t really a factor. I do have a pear tree now ![]()
How old is the house? I was thinking maybe lead base paint in an older house. Do you feel like you have any trouble breathing or feel congested? Any new detergents or soaps that might be the cause? Is this house in a different state than you previously lived in? I ask this because there might be allergies you didn’t know you had until you moved into this new area where your house is. Also, you can eventually get allergies to things you didn’t use to be allergic to. It has happened to me from moving to different areas of the US. As you get older your body can get allergies to things that you were previously not allergic to. Strange situation you have. Good luck
